For most of us on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, and other social sites we aren’t too worried about safety. Well maltreatment, pedophiles, stalking, and other crimes are now a priority social networkers should have. Some time ago I have been pretty open on my Facebook page, although there is a total difference between being open and being stupid. Here are 5 ways to guard yourself and your identity.

1. Keep Private Info to Yourself

Individuals Everyone doesn’t need to know your private information. Never write down your social security number, address, and phone number out there. Only give it to people you know in person. Also, be choosy about the people you add. You never know who may turn out to be a hacker, stalker, or someone trying to steal your identity. Also consider using a user name that isn’t your real name. And don’t tweet where you’re going because that makes you easy to follow or even break into your house.

2. Be careful of Strangers
Although this might seem a little elementary, there’s nothing wrong with a review course. Some individuals that might seem like friends could in reality be spammers that just want to hijack your account. Or they may just want to get traffic to their links. If you aren’t acquainted with them, and your friends don’t know who they are, don’t add them.

3. Bizarre Behavior
If friends on social sites seem to be acting peculiar, don’t receive gifts from them or open their messages. Someone may have hacked into their system so who you thought was a friend really isn’t. So, if you have a friend pushing “muenster cheese is the best” but you know they’re a vegan. Then it’s probably a sign that you shouldn’t click on the URL. It could be a nasty program that will mess up your computer software.

4. Shortened URLs
A number of URLs for web site addresses are really long and consequently by using tools like bit.ly you can have a link with a shortened URL. While these may be handy, they can also allow scammers and spammers the ability to hide where you are actually going. If it’s possible make sure to preview the URL before you go onto it. An easy rule is that if you can’t observe where the link is going, don’t go there.

5. Be aware of your Personal Options
All of these social media tools allow you to modify your security settings to a particular point. Make sure that you evaluate and alter them to the uppermost privacy setting they allow. However, don’t set the settings so great that the tools don’t work appropriately. Many of these settings are not the default so make sure that you alter them so some random stranger can’t find your data through the search engine. If you dislike or are worried about some of the privacy settings on the site, then don’t use it. Look for a different site that meets your privacy protection standards. Frequently examine and upgrade your browser privacy settings.

Social sites can be awesome. You can reconnect with old friends, improve existing relationships, and at the same time make new friends. Just be cautious about what information you are putting up there, and take into account these 5 ways to keep yourself and your identity protected.

Microsoft ASP.NET includes a number of useful server controls which can be used by developers to quickly add sophisticated functionality to a web form. The validation controls found in ASP.NET are used to check the information entered by visitors to your site into form fields and display error messages if there are problems with the entries. This process is referred to as validation and is an essential part of the information gathering process. Validation requires that you lay down some ground rules for each of the key fields in your form. How strict these rules are how strictly you enforce them is up to you. You will probably want to strike a balance between rules which are not so lax that they allow users to submit rubbish via your form and not so strict that they put users off.

Not all controls found in forms require the same type and degree of validation. For example, text boxes in which the user can choose to enter any information they like is likely to require more checking than a check box which can be checked or unchecked and nothing else. In addition, some fields will require multiple validation checks while others will require only one or perhaps none at all.

The Microsoft ASP.NET validation server controls provide web developers with both server-side and client-side validation. Server-side validation takes place on the server and is usually implemented using one of the two main languages used in ASP.NET web development: VB.Net or C#. Client-side validation takes place in the user’s browser and is usually done using JavaScript, before the form is sent to the server.

There are benefits and drawbacks to both client-side and server-side validation. From the user’s point of view, client-side validation is quicker and also frees up the server to perform other tasks. However, it is in no way secure. It is easy for the user to look at the source code of the page and see what type of validation is being performed. It is also possible for the user to disable the execution of JavaScript within their browser’s preferences.

The downside to server-side validation is that it is slightly slower and uses more of the server’s precious processing power. However, it is secure and allows developers to set up validation procedures which users cannot side-step.

So which one should developers implement? Well, since both client-side and server-side have definite benefits, it is usually best to implement both of them when creating forms. The validation server controls found in ASP.NET make this very doable and very easy.

Learning Adobe’s Dreamweaver CS4 is definitely a good investiment of your time. When it comes to a profession or hobby such as web design, having the proper hands-on training can mean the difference between successfully learning how to use programs and struggling to remember the way that they work. Books are great for teaching ancient History and Literature, but when it comes to the new world of internet development, a new teaching method is in order. Therefore, when you need to learn to use Adobe Dreamweaver, the investment in training software will be a worthwhile one. Rather than reading about how things should work, you can actually see how they work with training videos, tutors, and interactive tutorials.

Guided hands-on training is much more effective for learning programs like Adobe Dreamweaver, because you need to actually see how the program functions in order to fully understand it. Learning web design software can be confusing, but once you master a program like Adobe Dreamweaver, you will actually start to enjoy designing web pages, whether for business or pleasure and the learning experience can also be a breeze, as long as you find the right training method and don’t rely too much on books. Cast you mind back to when you were a kid. Your mom may very well have told you that the fire was hot, but you didn’t really fully understand that concept until you actually touched the fire for yourself.

Learning web design software works in the same empirical fashion. You might read or hear about Adobe Dreamweaver and how it works, but you won’t fully appreciate that information until you experience the program in action. That’s why interactive training, which includes videos, tutorials, and walkthroughs, is a much better way to master computer programs than a traditional textbook or lecture setting. Getting trained with the right interactive software will allow you to kick start your web design career, and you’ll be creating great websites in no time at all.

Your brain is better able to connect with things that it can see. It’s more of a “show me” learner than a “tell me” learner, by nature. That means that you could read ten books on using Adobe Dreamweaver, but until you actually get a hands-on experience, you might never understand everything that the program can do for you and your web pages.

It doesn’t matter if you’re designing a site for school, work, or fun, knowing how to use Dreamweaver properly before you start will make your web designs much better, and will make the design process much simpler than if you just read a book or tried to learn it on your own.

Are you looking for training on Adobe Dreamweaver CS4? We offer Adobe Dreamweaver training courses in London and all over the UK.

Having a new career or part-time business in Web design is a real possibility nowadays. Online businesses are becoming more and more common every day. What is one thing that all of these businesses have in common? They all need websites. And a site which is well designed can really make a difference to the chances that they have to succeed. Web design training is essential to learning how to create attractive, professional and functional websites for your business or that of someone else.

Why is web design important? You need to make sure that users who are visiting your website can find the products, services or information they are looking for. You need a website which functions the way it is supposed to and that brings together different elements including text, graphics and layout. If you do not have the training in different design programs, you will not have the tools to create sites which customers want to visit again and again.

There are different ways that you can go about getting web design training. You can choose to take different individual courses in the programs which you will be using, or you can take a course which will give you a diploma in web development and design. Either choice can be excellent but it depends on how extensively you will be using your design skills.

If you think that you are interested in making a career out of web development and design you should look at taking a comprehensive course. This will give you a good background in different programming languages, it will allow you to learn the basics of design and how to make something look attractive, and will give you practical experience as you design sites during the course of your instruction.

Even if you are more interested learning to design websites for yourself and relatives there are some principals that will carry through from the commercial side of the business. You will want to make sure that your site will load well no matter what the connection speed is of the people viewing it. You will also want to make sure that people can find the information they are looking for. Web design training can help you achieve all of these things and more.

You need to know that computer programs are changing and being updated regularly and you need to follow the changes to be able to use technology properly. This can mean getting used to new operating systems which are being developed, new versions of standard programs that will allow you to use new features, and trends and patterns in web design as well.

Web design training does not have to be a big deal. It is simple and fun to learn and can be a great way to turn a hobby into a viable and thriving business.

Need to master Website design techniques? We offer Web design training courses in London and all over the UK.

Microsoft ASP.NET is the premier development environment for creating dynamic server-side content a key element of which is the display of information from data sources. Database-driven web pages are a very common phenomenon. In ASP.NET version 1, the main control for achieving this was the DataGrid. In the current release of ASP.NET, version 3.5, the DataGrid is conspicuously absent from the Toolbox in Visual Web Developer. In fact, although the DataGrid can still be used in ASP.NET pages and will work fine, it is now deprecated. The good news is that there is a good choice of more powerful new controls which have taken its place. Four of these controls (GridView, DataList, Repeater and List View) are suitable for displaying multiple records from a data source and then there are another two (FormView and DetailsView) which are used to display only one record at a time.

Perhaps the most widely-used of ASP.NET’s DataBound controls is the GridView. It displays data items in an automatically-generated table and has a rich set of easily-configurable options. Options include the ability to customize columns and to include custom content in columns such as images or any other relevant HTML column. Command columns can also be added containing links which will enable the user to edit and delete records. The control also supports paging and sorting.

The DataList control also automatically generates a table when it produces its output. However, unlike the GridView control, it allows the display of more than one record per row using its RepeatColumns property. The DataList is also template-driven, requiring the use of an ItemTemplate containing dynamic data. The elements placed inside the ItemTemplate are rendered once for each item in the bound data.

The Repeater Control also relies on ItemTemplate elements for formatting its output. However, since it does not automatically create an HTML table, the Repeater offers considerable flexibility of layout. Output can be rendered as paragraphs, as a series of DIV elements, an ordered list, an unordered list or a customized table.

ASP.NET 3.5 introduced us to the ListView control, which also uses templates for displaying its output. However, it is far more sophisticated, allowing the use of a variety of templates, for example: a LayoutTemplate for specifying the overall container for the data; an ItemTemplate for specifying the rendering of each item of data; an ItemSeparator template, used to specify the content displayed between items of data; and so on. The ListView control also supports paging, sorting and editing records as well as the creation of new records.

Of the two controls used to display single items of data, the DetailsView resembles GridView in that it displays its output in an automatically-generated HTML table. The other single record data bound control, the FormView, resembles the ListView control, in that it is entirely template driven. Both of the single record controls support paging and sorting and allow you to edit and delete records as well as adding new ones.
